Your role

We’re on the lookout for a Technology Solutions Manager to take the lead in identifying the best Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) for Fastned. At Fastned you’ll have the opportunity to work with the latest and greatest technology from a broad range of manufacturers. You will play a key role in evaluating and selecting the best suppliers for EMS and BESS systems to ensure Fastned can continue to be the best charging network.

Your overall responsibilities include

• Own Fastned’s BESS and EMS solutions as core building blocks in our technical product catalog for fast charging stations. Develop and maintain a clear strategic roadmap for these solutions.

• Identify and evaluate BESS, EMS and auxiliary systems. Proactively scan the markets to identify potential manufacturers and suppliers. Evaluate technical and commercial feasibility and ultimately convert the most promising leads into lab tests and pilots with Fastned.

• Influence supplier roadmaps so that BESS and EMS solutions are scalable, standardizable, and suitable for deployment across countries.

• Internal coordination and requirement specification: act as a liaison between internal stakeholders and manufacturers. Define requirements and strategies for different use cases (e.g. peak shaving vs. grid congestion solutions). 

• Define high-level electrical system architectures for a scalable deployment of BESS and EMS. Use your electrical engineering expertise to ensure these elements integrate robustly with chargers, station infrastructure, and diverse grid connection types

• Coordinate pilot deployments across all departments: ensure new technologies are thoroughly tested in the field and issues resolved before network roll out.

The ideal candidate has a passion for technology and knows how to align external parties and internal stakeholders to pilot, optimize and successfully embed new technologies:

• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field (or equivalent work experience).

• At least 5 years of relevant professional experience

• Strong understanding of electrical systems, AC and DC grids, power electronics, software and communication protocols.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Comfortable in a flexible, fast-moving environment where priorities shift and experimentation is key.

• Ability to think critically, plan pilot projects, and translate business needs into technical requirements and architectures

• Strong communication skills and the ability to convey technical information clearly.

• Willingness to travel occasionally.
