Senior Business Controller

The Role

As our Senior Business Controller, you aren't just crunching numbers, you’re a strategic partner supporting and guiding business performance growth. Reporting to the Head of Business Control, you’ll dive into complex data and turn it into the clear, actionable advice our Directors and (Supervisory) Board need to keep Fastned on track. 

You’ll use your financial expertise to support our teams across Europe, building strong relationships across different cultures and departments along the way. What you’ll do

• Be a Strategic Partner: Use your business acumen to analyze KPIs and dashboards, highlight trends, providing expert advice that helps Business Managers hit their goals.

• Forecast the Future: Build reliable three statement financial models and scenario analyses for cash management and high-stakes investment decisions.

• Own the Budget: Track opex and capex across Europe, benchmarking performance and aligning updated estimates with the business.

• Scale for Growth: Identify opportunities to boost financial performance and proactively optimize our business processes, ensuring our financial operations are lean, scalable, and ready to support our rapidly expanding network

• Collaborate Across Borders: Work on diverse projects involving commercial propositions, marketing activities, operations, retail, product & engineering in a high-growth, international environment.

• Support Group Reporting: Contribute to our quarterly and annual IFRS reports and participate in dialogues with the Audit Committee.

• Finance Domain Expertise: Knowledge of related finance domains such as accounting, tax, and treasury is considered a strong asset and will be highly valued in this role.

About you

• 5+ years of experience in a similar role, and ideally you hold a Master’s in Finance, Economics, or Accounting. 

• You are a clear communicator and have the maturity to influence decision-making at the board level. 

• You’re a master of management control, investment appraisal, and valuation. 

• You don't just use existing tools, you’re a "master tool-maker" who can build scalable solutions from scratch.

• You love unpacking complex issues and collaborating closely with Data Analysts to ensure our information flows are seamless and our outputs are strategic.

• You have a hands-on, inquisitive attitude. You’re quick to spot risks and opportunities, and you’re comfortable taking full ownership of complex projects with a high degree of autonomy.

• You are fluent in English. Additional European languages are considered a plus.

• Most importantly, you have a genuine passion for the energy transition. You want your work to mean something and are excited to help Fastned grow.
