Head of Data & Insights
- Hybrid
- Amsterdam, Noord-Holland, Netherlands
- Centre of Organisational Excellence
Job description
Fastned is on a mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility. Since 2012, we have been building and operating a rapidly growing network of iconic fast-charging stations across Europe, powered entirely by solar and wind energy. We operate over 400 stations across nine countries, with an ambitious goal of reaching 1,000 stations by 2030. We are not building infrastructure for its own sake. Every station we open is a tangible step in the transition away from fossil fuels, and a bet that the commercial case for clean energy is as strong as the moral one.
Fastned has spent nearly 15 years building something that did not exist before: a premium, pan-European fast-charging network, built on green energy, with a brand that stands for "accelerating the transition to e-mobility."
As Head of Data & Insights, you will lead the team that helps Fastned make better-informed and faster decisions across Europe. Data is at the heart of how we choose where to grow, how we improve our customer experience, and how we operate our business at scale. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who combines strong people leadership with the strategic and analytical expertise to turn data into meaningful business outcomes.
The context
The Data & Insights team is a multidisciplinary central function, spanning Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science & AI. You will be reporting into Fastned’s Centre of Organisational Excellence.
The team’s purpose is: Provide business owners across Fastned the data, predictions, and automation they need to make faster, better decisions to drive business value.
As Head of Data & Insights, you will provide long-term leadership for the team and shape the next phase of its development. You will build on the strong foundations already in place, while creating the clarity, capabilities, and ways of working needed to support Fastned’s continued growth. The demand for analytics is growing rapidly as Fastned expands across Europe, clarifies its strategic objectives, and strengthens accountability for delivering them. You will help ensure that the Data & Insights team is a trusted and effective partner to the business, balancing strategic direction with high-quality delivery. This is not a role focused solely on technical delivery. We are looking for a people-first leader who can create an environment in which talented data professionals grow and do their best work, while engaging credibly with Fastned’s leadership and business owners.
What you will be responsible for
Lead and develop the Data & Insights team
Lead, motivate, and develop a multidisciplinary team covering Data Analytics, Data Engineering, and Data Science & AI.
Create a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture based on trust, ownership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Build an effective team structure and ensure the team has the capabilities needed to support Fastned’s strategic ambitions.
Set the Data and Insights strategy & partner with key stakeholders
Define and maintain a clear vision and strategy for Data & Insights, aligned with Fastned’s overall business strategy.
Translate strategic priorities into a focused roadmap, clear objectives, and measurable outcomes for the team.
Balance long-term capability building with the delivery of high-value insights and solutions for the business.
Strengthen Fastned’s data culture by acting as a strategic partner to business owners, helping them frame questions, identify opportunities, and make better decisions using data.
Contribute to Fastned’s annual objective-setting process and ensure that data-related objectives are clearly defined and effectively tracked.
Communicate complex analytical topics clearly and confidently to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Ensure high-quality, scalable data products and insights
Ensure that the team delivers reliable, accessible, and actionable data products, analyses, and models.
Promote high standards for data quality, documentation, reproducibility, and responsible use of data.
Help create the foundations for scalable self-service analytics and effective decision-making across Fastned.
Job requirements
What we are looking for
You are an experienced data leader who combines confidence and empathy. You are as comfortable coaching a mid-level data analyst as you are presenting a data strategy to a COO or senior leadership team.
Specifically, you bring:
At least 8 years of people management experience, ideally including leadership of multidisciplinary data teams.
A strong background in Data Analytics, Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, and Data Science, with enough breadth to credibly lead across all three areas.
Experience setting data strategy, creating team roadmaps, effectively prioritizing and translating business objectives into measurable data outcomes.
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to engage effectively with Director- and Board-level stakeholders.
The ability to bring clarity and focus when demand is high and priorities are evolving.
A natural coaching style and a genuine interest in helping people grow.
Experience working in a fast-paced scale-up or similarly dynamic environment is a plus.
Join us in building a better future
