Software Test Engineer

As a Software Test Engineer, you will become part of our Product & Engineering team and contribute directly to our mission "Freedom for the Electric Driver". At Fastned, you can fight climate change by accelerating the transition to electric mobility. Fastned owns and operates a network of over 290+ fast charging stations across Europe (Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Switzerland, UK). Together with over 230 colleagues (35 nationalities and counting), we have big plans: we are building a Europe-wide network of 1,000 beautiful fast-charging stations where electric drivers can charge their cars with energy from the sun and wind. Your role

Fastned enables EV drivers around Europe to charge their vehicle with renewable energy and leads the way in making mobility sustainable. As our dedicated Software Test Engineer you are in the lead to design and implement the best in class test facilities that elevates the quality of the software that EV drivers are using every day to new heights!

You will take full ownership of design and implementation of the way we test our software to ensure it’s quality and functionality and with that help provide the best experience for our customers. You are working closely together with the team of seasoned software engineers who are deep divers into solutions for Mobile (React Native), Web (React), Micro services (Kotlin) and many Rest API’s. 

Participating in all phases of testing, from determining the exact procedure, selection and implementation of tooling and troubleshooting errors you communicate your recommendations for improvement to the software engineering team.

Your overall responsibilities include

• Pave the way to a technically and functionally stable environment which supports rapid iterations in which we can deliver the most valuable software improvements to our customers;

• Guarding that the automated and manual tests you conduct ensure software delivered fits its purpose and feeds the continuous improvement cycle;

• Realizing viable solutions to real-world problems which support the team in our agile solution development;

• Making sure each product release is error-free and in line with functional specifications by performing various kinds of testing, including quality assurance and design reviews;

• Analyzing and tracking down the root cause of detected issues;

• Proposing solutions and suggesting improvements, as well as contribute to data backed analysis of test findings;

• Produce detailed documentation, noting the results for all test cases and any discovered defects;

• Prepare reports for management and development teams;

• Coordinate the User Acceptance Test (UAT) procedure with business testers;

• Evaluate UAT findings and communicate relevant ones with the Product Owner

Who we are looking for

• You have a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or related field (software testing relevant certifications are a plus);

• You are experienced in leading the setup and scaling of testing efforts in a growing and complex environment;

• You have in-depth knowledge of program testing software, frameworks and methodologies for Mobile application (React Native) testing. 

• You have a strong analytical mind, are detail-oriented and highly organized

• You are a creative out-of-the-box thinker in performing foolproof tests, issue spotting, pinpointing the source, and formulate corrective actions;

• You are a strong communicator with interpersonal skills essential for interacting with members of multidisciplinary teams.

• You are well-versed in technical writing, conveying information clearly and accurately

• Exposure to collaborative development environments where BDD is utilized to bridge the communication gap between stakeholders, development, and testing teams

• You have a strong affinity with the energy transition and Fastned’s mission.

• We use Bitrise Maestro for mobile automation so it is a plus if you have some experience with it.
