Job description

Join Fastned at the forefront of Europe’s electric vehicle and charging infrastructure revolution! As our PR & Communications Manager - UK you are in the driving seat to define and develop our PR and communication strategy to empower the voice of Fastned in the UK. Together with 400+ colleagues from over 40 nationalities, spread across 10 countries, we drive change in the energy transition. What sets us apart is our focus on reliability, sustainability and clean energy. We have been awarded “Best Charging Network” in the UK, France, Switzerland and the Netherlands, further establishing Fastned as a leading player in the field.

This role is a maternity cover position with a fixed term contract for 1 year.

About the team

The PR & Communications team plays a key role in shaping and sharing Fastned’s story — proactively creating campaigns, building our message house, following the news cycle, and driving media attention through initiatives like customer research. At the same time, responding to negative or misinformed coverage about electric mobility or Fastned. By building relationships with both supportive and critical journalists, the team ensures Fastned’s voice is heard, strengthens our media presence, and contributes to a broader understanding of our mission and vision for the future.

Your role

As Communications & PR Manager - UK, you will play an important role in building Fastned’s UK profile with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. Together with other team members (in particular the UK Country Director, UK Marketing Manager, and the Head of Communications and PR based in Amsterdam), you will be responsible for further developing and executing Fastned’s UK PR & media strategy and positioning Fastned as a major contributor to the UK’s EV future. You will also work on a range of internally and externally focused (corporate) communication projects. We have great momentum with our joint venture with the Places for London for which the UK PR Manager in the upcoming year plays a crucial role to leverage in building our brand in the UK.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with relevant media, social media influencers, and opinion leaders and external partners, leading to positive media coverage - keeping them informed of what’s going on at Fastned in the UK

  • Build engagement with the company and awareness of Fastned’s wider European achievements.

  • Position Fastned as a thought leader on the EV revolution and the roll-out of great charging infrastructure in the e-mobility transition via presence on events, taking the lead in producing press releases, blogs etc.

  • Help build the profile of the UK country director in the most relevant way.

  • Follow up proactively and reactively with journalists and opinion leaders.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues throughout Fastned’s business in the UK and beyond, identifying opportunities that accelerate the UK business. Develop marketing/media opportunities using your own initiative.

  • Proactively seek opportunities to create stories about Fastned (and the wider EV industry) that help build Fastned’s profile and overall brand.

  • Lead and manage Fastned UK PR events (such as station openings, journalist and influencer events) and Fastned’s presence at external (industry) events.

  • Monitor media to share (news) stories about Fastned and the industry within the company using media monitoring tools.

  • As part of Fastned’s global Communications & PR team, ensure that the UK angle is represented in wider communications strategies.

What do you bring :

You are intrinsically motivated by Fastned’s mission to accelerate the transition to electric mobility and are curious about the industry's latest developments. You bring the ability to inspire internal and external target audiences and build momentum for Fastned and the transition, both in writing and in speech!

Additionally, you tick the following boxes:

  • Excellent stakeholder management and cross team collaboration.

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in writing & communication management.

  • A degree in business or from a technical university would be considered as beneficial.

  • You have a self-starter mentality and are results-driven.

  • You “Think like a Founder” and take ownership.

You should be available to start in November for a 1 year fixed term contract.

We work in a hybrid model with the expectation of 3 days a week in our Shoreditch office.

Join us in building a better future!

We work hard to change the world, but we don't forget to recognise & celebrate our successes, big and small. We focus on work-life balance, provide genuine work flexibility, and have family-friendly policies in place. Electric mobility is new territory for you? Don’t worry! Our benefits package includes:

  • Pension plan (fully covered by Fastned).

  • A training and development budget of €3,000 per year per employee, because development and training are important to us and our sector offers endless opportunities.

  • In order to experience and enjoy the EV life, you get access to our fully electric vehicle fleet (all charging expenses covered), which is also for private use.

  • 29 holidays. Additionally, we give you two mission days you can use to contribute to Fastned’s mission or to support a cause that is important to you.

  • Daily lunches, snacks & drinks are provided at our office locations.

  • Next to fun events year-round, we throw notorious Christmas parties and organise an amazing yearly trip abroad with all employees.
