⚡️Your role

Fastned is a pioneer in a completely new industry, aiming to accelerate the transition towards sustainable mobility by giving freedom to electric drivers. As a Junior Backend Engineer at Fastned you have a unique opportunity to join a team of engineering professionals to learn, develop your professional skills and eventually assist in accelerating the transition to sustainable mobility!

You will become a part of the Product and Software Engineering scrum team consisting of fellow Backend Engineers, Frontend Engineers, Engineering Manager, Product Owner and Product Designer.


We use Kotlin, Spring Boot (Micro Services), AWS, Kubernetes, SQL, Kafka, CI/CD and Rest API’s on our backend. Working side by side with our engineers you will get all the guidance you need to develop relevant skills and succeed in a fast paced environment!


⚡️Your overall responsibilities include

  • Development, testing, and review of reusable, maintainable, and scalable code for the Fastned Revolt platform and infrastructure;

  • Deliver high-quality software through security practices, high performance, tests, and great user experience;

  • Assisting your squad in constructing sprint planning to agree on technical direction and overseeing technical development from ideation to deployment;

  • Assisting the team in improving development methodologies and applying best practice patterns;

  • You'll be the driving force behind all back-end activities to help all EV drivers have a great charging experience!

Job requirements

⚡️Who we are looking for

  • You have an engineering mindset and a strong desire to learn and develop your programming skills.

  • You are a 2023/2024 graduate with a Bachelor's or Master's in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field; or you have completed a relevant third-level study (e.g. Coding Bootcamp, HBO)

  • You have less than 1.5 years of relevant work experience, age is no bar

  • You have an understanding of object-oriented programming as we predominantly use Kotlin on our backend

  • You demonstrate critical, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills

  • You demonstrate great communication skills and love working in a team

  • Proficiency in English is mandatory for this role
