We are looking for an Expansion Manager based in Madrid to join our Network Development team at Fastned. Be part of our Spanish expansion team and build a Europe-wide network of 1,000 fast charging stations with us. We are a team of over 350 employees spread across 9 countries, with our HQ in Amsterdam.

Your role

Being successful in this role means being hands-on in creating opportunities for Fastned. Feeding new locations into our Spanish pipeline of new locations is the main goal. In concrete terms, this means you will…

  • Expand our fast charging network in Spain by securing new locations (from scouting to signed agreements), supported by a highly skilled international team.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders in the private and in the public sector with the objective of identifying new opportunities for collaboration and expansion.

  • Find opportunities for Fastned to grow, creating proposals and participating in public contract processes through tenders and/or partnerships, as well as at private level, building commercial deals.

  • Feed early opportunities into our pipeline and work closely with the other teams at Fastned to deliver on our expansion agenda.

  • Support the team in developing structured, repeatable processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Monitoring policy development and understanding its impact on our development plans.

This role will be based in Madrid, where you will become part of the Network Development team, a fun and diverse group of professionals spread across Europe. You will report directly to the Expansion Lead New Markets in London and work very closely with the entire Spanish team. You will collaborate closely with other teams across our different European locations, and you will get the unique chance to learn a lot about - and become part of our future-driven industry, where you can make a real impact!

Who we are looking for

In order to be successful in this role you have to be a convincing business developer and networker with outstanding people skills. You bring along experience with negotiations, as you will need to be at ease when negotiating with both governmental bodies and private landowners. You find the right balance between strategic thinking, commercial judgment and the drive to make a difference. You are a real people person have a nose for business opportunities and you love to push projects through until success.

You tick the following boxes:

  • Spanish native speaker, with outstanding verbal and written communication in Spanish and English.

  • Open for regular travel within Spain and Europe.

  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in expansion, real estate, or business development roles.

  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.

  • You’re an outgoing person who enjoys seeing new places and meeting new people.

  • A sales-driven, ‘go-getter’ mentality. You are a strong communicator, with a problem-solving mindset. Your commercial understanding helps you to filter a lot of information, assess its relevance and prioritize accordingly.

  • You are highly motivated by accelerating the energy transition.

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of public procurement processes, tendering, and contract management.

  • An existing network of public and private stakeholders in the Spanish energy, infrastructure, real estate, transport or e-mobility sectors.
