Role
As Director of Service Operations, you oversee the daily operations and maintenance of our charging stations while ensuring exceptional customer support. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining station reliability and strengthening the connection between Fastned and its customers. By effectively managing customer feedback and inquiries, you will help create a seamless and highly dependable charging experience, aligning customer insights with station operations and maintenance. By fostering collaboration between teams, you will optimise station uptime and reliability, guaranteeing hassle-free charging for every driver.
You will manage several teams responsible for various operational duties, including field operations, customer support, and warehousing/logistics for spare parts. We are looking for a Director with a passion for hands-on execution, someone who thrives on diving into the operational details and working closely with field teams to ensure smooth execution.
This role is critical to Fastned’s rapid expansion. Over the next five years, you will scale your teams to support the growth from 350 to 1,000 charging stations across Europe while helping build the infrastructure and customer support framework needed to secure a leading position in the fast-growing EV charging market. By streamlining operations and improving customer satisfaction, you will enhance service reliability and contribute to Fastned’s growth as Europe’s leading fast-charging provider.
Job requirements
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with the Director of Technology Operations to align technology advancements with operational needs to improve performance, optimise uptime, and ensure a seamless customer experience;
Develop and implement operation strategies, policies, and procedures;
Establish operational goals, KPIs and monitor progress towards achieving them;
Oversee budgeting and financial reporting for operations-related expenses;
Understand local station requirements (state of the stations, contractual obligation, maintenance, grid, permit limitations etc..), chargers and customers. Stay close to the market and its operations;
Manage and motivate a team of employees (centrally and in the field), providing leadership and guidance to ensure employee satisfaction and optimal performance;
Collaborate with other departments such as Construction Management, Network Development, Location Design to identify and address operational inefficiencies;
Ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards;
Frequently visit your local teams to connect & align, provide coaching and performance feedback;
Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendors, suppliers, and other local business partners.
Who are we looking for?
We’re looking for a Director of Service Operations who’s ready to grow and make an impact. If you have a passion for operational excellence, customer experience, and working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, this could be the perfect role for you.
A Master’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, or something similar.
Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in operations management position, ideally in a fast-moving, rapidly scaling company and industry.
A sharp analytical mindset with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Great at bringing people along on the journey - exceptional communication and interpersonal skills are a must.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and keep things moving.
Comfortable using industry-specific software and tools.
A strategic thinker who isn’t afraid to get creative and think outside the box.
Proven experience leading and managing teams.
Thrives under pressure and in fast-paced environments.
English is a must, and any additional European languages (German, French, Dutch) are a bonus!
