Together with 270 colleagues from over 35 nationalities, we have the ambition to build Europe's best fast-charging network. Our goal is a European network of 1,000 fast charging stations in prime locations where electric drivers can charge their vehicles with energy from the sun and wind. We have recently been voted the best charging network in the UK, France and the Netherlands, which is a testimony to our drive to offer the best charging experience to EV drivers.

Your role

As an experienced Business Controller your main responsibility is to work as a business partner, in tandem with others in the Business Control team, to track and support business performance growth and to provide the board with reliable financial forecasts. In this role, you will work with business managers and the finance team and report to the Group Controller. Based at Fastned’s headquarters in Amsterdam, you will have regular exposure to directors and supervisory board members.

In concrete terms, this means you…

  • Contributing to Fastned quarterly and annual external financial reports - which are prepared on an IFRS basis. (Fastned is a listed company on the Amsterdam Euronext stock exchange);
  • Tracking actual spend across Europe compared with opex and capex budgets and agreeing updated estimates with business managers;
  • Analyzing business performance (KPIs, dashboards), highlighting trends and providing management with monthly commentaries and financial reports;
  • Preparing sound financial models and scenario analyses;
  • Identify and make proposals to improve business financial performance and achieve strategic growth objectives;
  • Reviewing the slide deck and providing performance commentary for Audit committee meetings;
  • Understanding, mapping and improving on business processes so that they are scalable for future growth;
  • Contributing to projects on a wide range of financial-related topics eg. tax, treasury, and systems.

Who we are looking for

In order to be successful in this role you will need to quickly acquire insight in business processes, and use your financial expertise to provide high-quality advice to managers. You need to enjoy communicating with colleagues from different backgrounds, areas of expertise and culture, and feel comfortable in a fast-growing organisation.

  • You are a financial professional with a Master's degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting and control or equivalent and you have at least 3 years or more work experience in a similar role;
  • You are inquisitive, keen to learn and have a hands-on attitude;
  • You are a master tool-maker able to develop tools from scratch based on existing systems;
  • You have great analytical skills, understand information flows and are capable of working with our Data team to structure processes to achieve the desired output;
  • You are quick to identify risks and opportunities and support strategic decision making;
  • You have strong communication skills and are fluent in English;
  • You are a team player, enjoy working in an international environment, can think on your own feet and are comfortable taking initiative and responsibility;
  • You have a genuine interest in the energy transition and Fastned’s mission.
